While Tina Knowles is filled with loads of wisdom, her granddaughter doesn’t come to her for advice.

While promoting her upcoming memoir Matriarch at the Jennifer Hudson Show, the fashion designer, 71, spoke about how proud she is of her daughters. From Beyoncé’s, 43, historic wins at the 2025 Grammy Awards to Solange’s, 38, extraordinary work as a producer, Knowles is a proud mom.

The mom of two also opened up to host Jennifer Hudson, 43, about the ways her granddaughter Blue Ivy, 13, takes after her and how her future is bright. When asked if Blue Ivy ever comes to her for advice, Knowles said that the teenager usually goes to her mother.

“Her and her mother are really tight and so they don’t need me to give much advice,” Knowles told Hudson, before she added, “They tell me to mind my business.”

The businesswoman and mom spoke exclusively to PEOPLE and gave some encouraging words to moms in October 2024 when she was being honored at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards, alongside other moms who have raised this generation’s stars. The event was held at The Times Square EDITION in New York City.

“I feel like the teenage years are the most difficult, but it will get better and you get what you put in,” she said, adding, “That’s what I truly believe. The more you put into your kids, the more love and care and support you give them, the more you get out of it.”

During her speech at the event, Knowles reflected on her life as a mother, with Beyoncé notably in the audience to support.

“I’ve been so blessed in my life to do many things. I’ve had many careers, but I’ve always said that the best job that I’ve ever had is being a mother,” Knowles said. “I’ve had the privilege of raising and helping to raise four daughters..

. two that were born to me and two that were a gift to me from God. You know, I was somewhat of a rebellious teen and a young adult, and I didn’t always follow the rules, but the day that I became a mother, I decided that this was one thing that I wouldn’t screw up.”
