Tiffany Henyard Evicted from Home and Stripped of Supervisor Role Amid Mounting Scandals

Eviction Drama Unfolds

Court documents reveal that Henyard and her boyfriend, Cal Woods, fell behind on rent payments for their Dolton residence, which they began leasing in 2021. According to their landlord, Janetta Hull, the last payment was made in August 2023, leaving the couple more than $5,000 in arrears, including late fees. Hull, who once considered Henyard a friend and supported her political campaigns, filed an eviction lawsuit in September after failed attempts to collect the overdue rent.

Despite their combined annual income exceeding $350,000—Henyard’s from her public roles and Woods’ from a township job—the couple allegedly stopped paying rent when Hull raised it by $200 to $2,400 per month due to increasing property taxes. Hull also claimed Henyard and Woods changed the locks and garage codes, further complicating her attempts to regain access to the property.

Hull expressed frustration over the ordeal, stating, “At some point, you have to understand that karma is going to catch up to you. Just pay your rent.” Despite ongoing court proceedings, Hull said she wants the couple out of her house regardless of whether they pay the overdue amount.

Political Collapse at Thornton Township

Henyard’s eviction coincides with her ousting as Thornton Township supervisor. During a highly charged caucus meeting, residents and political figures gathered to decide her fate. Henyard, wearing a bold pink pantsuit, accused Senator Napoleon Harris of orchestrating voter suppression by allegedly barring her supporters from entering the venue. Harris’s team refuted the claims, explaining the gymnasium was simply filled to capacity.

Inside, the atmosphere was tense as residents, frustrated with Henyard’s controversial leadership, voiced their discontent. The meeting culminated in a unanimous vote to remove Henyard from her position. As she exited the gym, attendees erupted in cheers, with the iconic song “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” playing over the speakers—a symbolic farewell to Henyard’s leadership.

Rather than accepting the decision gracefully, Henyard vowed to challenge the vote, claiming the process was “rigged” and promising to take legal action. However, the public display of her removal underscored the community’s desire for change after a tenure marred by financial mismanagement and public outbursts.

Ongoing Investigations and Financial Troubles

Henyard is already under federal investigation for alleged misuse of village funds, with a report showing a $3.65 million deficit in Dolton’s general fund. Critics argue her financial recklessness and lack of transparency have significantly harmed the community.

A Fall from Grace

Once hailed as a “super mayor,” Henyard’s downfall has been swift and public. Her eviction, loss of political power, and pending legal battles mark a dramatic fall from grace for a leader once entrusted with serving her community. For many, these events signal the end of her tumultuous political career.
