Grimes will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton in the new series.
A new Yellowstone series is in the works, folks. Luke Grimes, who starred on the original series as Kayce Dutton, will reprise the role for the new series.
Grimes starred in all five seasons of Yellowstone as the son of John Dutton (Kevin Costner). This adds to the Yellowstone universe which includes 1883, 1923, the upcoming series The Madison with Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox, and the other yet-to-be-named Yellowstone spinoff series to star Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprising their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, respectively.
No word yet on where the new series will take place in the Yellowstone timeline. If it takes place post-events of the Yellowstone series finale, then we’ll likely see Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and Tate (Brecken Merrill) in the spinoff as well.
If it’s pre-events of Yellowstone, we may see Kayce during his years in the military, when he was a Navy SEAL. Kayce’s time in the military has never been fully fleshed out in the original series, so it would be interesting to see it shapes him into the man we saw on Yellowstone.
Grimes, who is also a country music singer, released his self-titled debut album back in May 2024. He is married to Brazilian model Bianca Rodrigues. The couople share a son, born in 2024.
Taylor Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone and its many spinoffs, has been a ratings juggernaut for Paramount Network and its streaming companion, Paramount+.
Along with the Yellowstone universe of series, Sheridan has created or executive produced a number of series for Paramount that feature a star-studded cast including Landman with Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore, Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone, Lioness with Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman, Mayor of Kingstown with Jeremy Renner, and Lawmen: Bass Reeves with David Oyelowo.
